What We do
Our Mission
Building Bright Futures Through Education
Education for the Afghan Children (EAC) is a certified 501(c)(3) grassroots nonprofit organization, committed to making a significant impact in Afghanistan by building primary schools and health centers for girls and boys with no current access to education. Established in October 2017, EAC champions the power of education as the cornerstone of community development and social progress. Access to education is a fundamental human right, essential for all, particularly women, regardless of race, family background, language, or social standing. By educating the young generation, EAC aims to foster a transition from conflict and instability to a future of peace, welfare, and stability in Afghanistan. Your support through tax-deductible donations is vital to our ongoing efforts and the transformative power of our mission.
Our Goals
Fostering a Future of Prosperity and Peace
Our long-term goals center on constructing primary schools and creating healthy, safe environments where the children of the community can thrive. We are dedicated to providing spaces that not only promote learning but also foster the skills necessary for children to grow into productive and peaceful adults. By focusing on education and well-being, we aim to empower future generations to contribute positively to society and lead their communities toward a brighter, more stable future
Our Target Population
Educating for Health and Prosperity
The critical need for education among Afghan girls is starkly highlighted by the dire health statistics facing women in Afghanistan. With an average lifespan of only 44 years and one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the world — a staggering 45% — the stakes could not be higher. Our primary focus is on children in the rural areas of Afghanistan, who are profoundly vulnerable not only to health challenges but also to the broader socio-economic factors that limit their futures. By providing education, we aim to improve health outcomes and offer a pathway to a better, more prosperous future for the entire community.
Our Objectives
Building Foundations for the Future
The primary objective of our project is to construct an elementary school for girls and boys in the village of Janabad, located in the province of Ghazni, Afghanistan. This initiative is driven by the urgent need to provide accessible, quality education to children in underserved areas, helping to lay the groundwork for a more equitable and prosperous future. By establishing this school, we aim to offer educational opportunities that are crucial in breaking the cycle of poverty and empowering the next generation
Our Challenges
Overcoming Adversity to Rebuild and Educate
After four decades of conflict and devastation, Afghanistan remains one of the poorest and most war-torn nations on the globe. The enduring impact of war, coupled with insufficient healthcare infrastructure, has led to high maternal and child mortality rates and a severely low literacy rate across the country. In such an environment, education has often been overlooked, yet its value in these circumstances cannot be overstated. Our mission faces significant challenges, not just in building schools, but in shifting perceptions towards recognizing education as a fundamental pillar for recovery and growth.
Building Midwives Centers
Strengthening Community Health Care
In Afghanistan, the rates of maternal and childhood mortality are among the highest in the world, with approximately 40% of mothers and 60% of newborns not surviving childbirth. These devastating statistics highlight a critical need for local healthcare solutions, especially in rural areas where access to hospital care is severely limited by poor infrastructure and transportation challenges.
Our initiative aims to establish midwives training centers in every village, targeting the training of 5 to 10 midwives per village. These trained professionals will serve approximately 100 families each, drastically improving the availability and quality of maternal and newborn care. By empowering local women with the skills to deliver critical healthcare, we not only save lives but also foster a sustainable model of community-led health improvement.
